GORDON WHITE

Business Owner and Artist

Since 1986, I have owned and run my own business, fatBuzz, a marketing agency based in Glasgow working with clients primarily in the UK.  I love what I do, but my real passion is art.  I spend as much time as possible painting and drawing, but as a business owner with a family, the time I can devote to it is more limited than I’d like it to be.

Many years ago, I combined my love of golf with my passion for painting to create paintings of many great golf courses.  These are mainly oil paintings that I reproduced as prints.  Many of them are still available to buy on the website.

During a particular period around 2010 – 2014, I reverted to drawing when I was swamped running the business.  I found it easier to grab small chunks of time to work in pencil, which is difficult to do with painting.  I created drawings of many iconic people during this period, including Steve Jobs, David Bowie, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Elvis Presley, Al Pacino, James Gandolfini, and many more.

Now, I’m back to painting and using my favoured medium, watercolour.  I like to paint cityscapes, but not the ‘chocolate box’ images of cities.  I like road works, traffic, rain-swept streets; generally, I like to capture real city life.  I’ve also been experimenting with portraiture and even the family black labrador, Buzz.

I love watercolour because it is so unpredictable; many times, I’ve left a painting slightly disappointed with what I’ve achieved only to return the following day to be amazed at how the drying process has transformed it into something special.

You’ll find my most recent work in the ‘Original Painting’ pages on this website.  I hope you enjoy looking at them.

BOOK

My book, Paper, Pencils and People, is a collection of drawings completed between 2010 and 2013.

The book comprises images of some truly iconic people from the past and present; most of them chosen because I admire their achievements. They include images of iconic people such as Steve Jobs, David Bowie, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Elvis Presley, Al Pacino, James Gandolfini and many more.

I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

The book is available to buy online from blurb.co.uk in two sizes, large and small. There is also an ebook version available.
