Turnberry, Ayrshire, Scotland

A rare opportunity to own a very well known original oil painting of Turnberry on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland painted by Gordon White.  Turnberry is the home of some of the greatest ever Open Championships.  Who can ever forget the “Duel in the sun” in 1977 when Tom Watson narrowly defeated Jack Nicklaus to win the Claret Jug.  Or, 23 years later in 2009 when Tom Watson, at the age of 59, was narrowly beaten by Stewart Cink.

Prints of this painting have been in circulation for 20 years and adorn the walls of 100’s of homes, offices and clubhouses around the world.  In addition, the original painting is also well-travelled, having been exhibited in Las Vegas, Singapore and at the Open Championships at St Andrews and Turnberry.

The painting has also been reproduced extensively on other products such as table mats, coasters, and mouse mats.

Whist the image is very well known, there is only one original and it is now offered for sale by the artist.  An imposing and engaging image, it is the ideal centrepiece to for any room and has proven to attract attention form golfers and non-golfers alike.
